For the 2022-2023 school year, North Country Supervisory Union is adopting ParentSquare as the primary tool for communicating with families, including for emergencies and school closures, and will phase out its current tool (SchoolMessenger).
North Country Supervisory Union, including all schools, has used SchoolMessenger in the past for school alerts, including school closures and other events. This year we are moving to a new platform called ParentSquare. The transition will allow for one unified platform for all communication, more parent/guardian involvement, and more robust engagement features. There is an app for mobile users, two-way language translation, volunteer sign-up, conference sign-up, and so much more. The program is synced with PowerSchool SIS (Student Information System). For teachers, your classes will sync with PowerSchool and be pre-loaded with your current students and families. Any changes made to contact information for the student and families are updated in the platform during the nightly upload (changes are made by your administrative assistant or registrar in PowerSchool SIS). We encourage you to take advantage of the "Training Resources" links found at the end of this message.

Communication to Parents
Parents will receive an activation email for their ParentSquare account. Those who do not register will still receive text, email, and phone notifications. Parents who do create an account can interact by viewing photos, downloading attachments, leaving comments, messaging teachers, signing permission slips, and managing their communication settings and preferences.
The district will provide a variety of resources to ensure an effective launch at each site, including: training videos, flyers, PowerPoint presentations for parents, and more.
For users who already have a registered ParentSquare account, modules and webinars to learn more about the platform and its features can be found here.
