Attendance Matters Image

Attendance

Parents/guardians should notify the Main Office ahead of time for planned absences such as doctor appointments or travel out of town. When a student is absent without prior notice (such as being sick), the school should be notified via telephone at 802-766-2276, option #1, or by email at ncujhs@ncsuvt.org as soon as possible.

If we have not received an excuse for your student's absence by 9:30 AM, you will receive an automated message indicating that your student is absent.

Tardy to School
Students are expected to be in TA at 8:20 AM. If students are not in their appropriate classroom by this time, they will be considered tardy for school. Students arriving to school after 8:20 AM need to check in at the Main Office. (Parents/guardians do not need to accompany the student into the building)

Truancy Protocol
Throughout the year, students may miss school for a variety of reasons. To ensure that students miss as few days as possible, the following protocol will be followed in the event that students miss school:
  • When a student has been absent 3 days, the family will be notified.
  • When a student has been absent 7 days, a letter will be sent to the family documenting the dates of the absences and the principal will convene a truancy prevention team meeting if warranted.
  • When a student has been absent 15 days or more, the principal may refer the case to the state’s attorney office and notify the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

Early Dismissal

If a student is being picked up prior to 3:30 PM, the Main Office needs to be notified by the parent/guardian as early as possible. Notes brought in with the student are acceptable as well as phone calls or emails to ncujhs@ncsuvt.orgThe person picking up the student needs to come into the office and sign the student out of the building.

*For the safety of our students, any person checking out a student may be asked to present identification and be on the student list of adults authorized to pick the student up.

Please Note: The front drive will be closed to through traffic at 3:15 PM in order to allow buses to line up. Students leaving early must be picked up prior to 3:15 PM or the driver will be asked to join the pick up line and wait for 3:30 PM dismissal.

Regular Drop-Off & Pick- Up

Our school opens at 8:00 AM.
Student safety is paramount. There is no staffing until 8:00 AM, therefore students are not to arrive or be dropped off at the school prior to this time. Students will wait out in front of the building. Once on campus, students may not leave the grounds without permission from the school.

Our school day ends at 3:30 PM.
Parents/guardians should pick up students between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM behind the school in the bus loop.
